Dedicates Wall of Fame to Founder

The Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) was honored to commemorate their Wall of Fame for MACC founder, Will Kirkwood.

A packed house of businesses, residents and veterans turned out to support the effort to remember the visionary who created the Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce forty- eight years ago. Will and his wife, Charlotte started the Chamber from their Townsend home and the organization still retains the same P.O. Box 1 and phone number today.

The Wall of Fame highlights award winners of the Chambers' highest honors; Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, President's Award, Special Recognition Award, Service Above Self Award and also features the list of past Chamber Presidents from the past five decades. Current and past board members, volunteers and staff attended the event and shared sentiments regarding the history of the MACC and their interactions with Will.

Charlotte, and her daughters, Renee' Kirkwood Nolan, Stephanie Wright and Sharon Wyatt accepted an honorary membership for the family business, WilChar Farm.

"Our father instilled in us a sense of community, he was very proud of the Chamber and where it has come after all these years." shared Renee' during the presentation.

The names of all the individuals, organizations and businesses who were part of the Wall of Fame were recognized at the dedication. Future award winners will be added to the wall each year to honor their service and dedication to the MOT Community.
